Horner's magic drum of 1833

Horner's magic drum was one of the forerunners of film devices that used an optical phenomenon called persistence of vision. It was a rotating cylinder with slots into which a paper strip with pictures was inserted. As the cylinder rotated, the viewer saw a moving image. This device was invented in 1833 by the English mathematician and physicist William George Horner.
